Unemployed from the oil and gas industry and want to obtain employment in another sector?
Alternatives to Careers in Energy provides unemployed energy sector employees with employment preparation services and either employment placement or on-the-job training/paid work experience. Each client will develop a unique plan of action and will be supported as they access workplace preparation and career transition skills to best prepare them to transition into full time employment in an occupation outside of the energy sector utilizing the skills and experience gained in past employment roles.

Construction Pre-Trades (CPT)
Prepare for a career in construction.
Interested in a career in the construction industry? Construction Pre-Trades provides you with the technical skills to obtain employment in a wide number of roles within this busy industry. This program combines hands-on-technical training taught by the experts at SAIT with employability and essential skills training, work experience and job placement supports. Clients also receive certfication in First Aid and CPR, Construction Safety Training System (CSTS), WHMIS and Fall Protection.
Innovative job search strategies, computer skills training, and personal development – that can help you achieve meaningful and rewarding employment.
MCG’s Experience Counts program provides Mature Workers (50 to 64) with the opportunity to update current skills and obtain new knowledge while receiving customized support with the goal of attaining and mainitaing employment. This program includes six weeks of in-class professional and personal development training and one-on-one support from a Job Coach during the client’s job search.
Rapid Employment Services (RES)
Employment supports for individuals Ready, Willing and Able to return to work.
Rapid Employment Services (RES) is a program for job-ready Albertans looking to enter the workplace immediately. RES clients will work one-on-one with a job coach to determine their job search needs and will have access to several services.
RES services include job search techniques, interview skills, resume writing, assessing skill gaps, understanding transferable skills, identifying the hidden job market, researching new sectors, generating employment leads, and direct job placement.

This program aims to provide Career and Employment Information Services (CEIS) with a focus on literacy and essential skills development leading to employment and/or training.
Eligibility:
- Ages 18 – 64
- Must be unemployed or marginally employed
- Must be ready, willing, and able to work, or return to school

Workplace Training partners with employers who can provide individual-centered programs, on-the-job training, and paid work experience. Participating employers agree to train or provide work experience for a predetermined period of time, with the expectation of the individual being able to engage and maintain employment in most cases with the same employer.
