Child Development Worker Program
Earn your Child Development Certification and prepare for a career in the Early Learning Industry.
The Child Development Worker Program is an MCG program that provides industry-specific training to Albertans that qualifies them to work in a variety of different careers in the Childcare Industry.
This program offers each program participant:
- An in-depth assessment where the participant’s needs are identified
- 16-weeks of classroom training
- 10-week practicum for work experience (400 hours)
- Child Development Worker Certification
- 3-month follow-up after successful completion of the program
Employment Preparation for Careers in Construction
An individualized and comprehensive employment preparation program for unemployed Albertans with barriers to work.
MCG’s Employment Preparation for Careers in Construction program provides job seekers with challenges in finding and maintaining employment with the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to succeed in employment. Clients are connected to community service providers to receive the support needed to address their challenges and then provided with a Paid Work Exposure opportunity within the construction industry. Sustainable employment is the program objective.
Growth 4 U
Employment Supports for Individuals with Mental Health Concerns
The Growth 4 U program is specifically designed for individuals coping with mental illness who require assistance to obtain and maintain employment. Based on the Individual Placement and Support model, staff work with clients to create a Return to Work Action Plan which outlines the steps needed to successfully enter or re-enter the workforce.
Launch
Launch is a paid work experience program for young adults ages 20 to 30.
Clients will have some post-secondary education (college, university, trades) and be unemployed and struggling to find employment due to a lack of experience or career focus. Each client will develop an action plan specific to their employment goals and will be provided with one-on-one career and employment counselling for which the client will receive a training allowance. The paid work experience component connects the client with an employer who will provide occupation-specific training. This allows for the development of relevant work experience. Full-time, sustainable employment is the program objective.
Priority Employer Program
Helping Businesses Put Ability First
The Priority Employer Program (PEP) was developed to support by offering a range of resources, training and guidance to help with the recruitment, hiring and retaining and advancement of persons with disabilities.
PEP empowers employers through the provision of:
- Online or in-person education and training related to advancing inclusion for employers and staff
- Support and guidance for human resources activities
- Access to employer focused tools, resources and publications
- Supported connections to disability service providers
- Provision of accessibility and ergonomic assessments for worksites
- Assistance with applications for employer grants
- Upskills training and micro-credentialing for current employees with disabilities and supervisors of employees with disabilities
ReBrand
Youth employment and life skills program.
ReBrand provides youth (ages 17 – 30) with an opportunity to develop essential life and career skills. Participants work through a series of facilitator-led modules that aid in career and education planning, stress management, job search skills, networking and much more. ReBrand participants also take part in Work Experience and Job Placements with regional employers. The end-goal upon program completion is for the participant to either obtain full-time employment or return to school to pursue further education.
Women’s Essential Skills Training
WEST is a Women’s Employment Readiness program that uses a learner-centred approach that engages, educates, enriches, and empowers women for inclusion in the labour market and society.
MCG’s WEST program objective is to provide foundational skills training that includes Skills for Success, Employment Skills (the skills required to find, apply and secure employment) and Employability Skills (interpersonal skills) training, along with wrap-around service delivery that connects participants with the resources needed to support them reach their full potential.
