MCG Careers is currently seeking a two Job Developer/Marketers to support our SkillBuild (Training and Employment Supports for Careers in Construction)  and Rapid Employment Services (Short Course Training and Certification to Employment) programs at our Edmonton location.

Job Title: Job Developer/Marketer

The Primary Purpose of the Job is to find employment opportunities for the clients using a variety of resources. To ensure success, contact the clients for 90 days after their completion date.

Reports to: Program Manager

Direct Reports: Not Applicable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meeting one-on-one with clients to establish career goals
  • Marketing the clients to employers by using their most vital skills as a tool
  • Assist clients with resume/cover letter writing
  • Motivate the clients to seek employment and strive for success
  • Cold-calling new employers to develop a robust database of contacts
  • Printing jobs off job boards that are advertised on the job board
  • Keeping good contact with existing employers/creating new contacts
  • Following up with clients for 30, 60, and 90 days after the completion date to ensure that they are successful
  • Liaise with employers to develop and maintain a strong network
  • Establishing strong contacts in various industries
  • Cold calling and marketing new organizations
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and experience working in a client-based industry
  • Experience with various types of recruitment strategies
  • Strong understanding of the career planning process
  • Computer competencies
  • Communication & Problem-Solving skills, exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills, networking abilities
  • Interviewing and assessment training
  • A sales background would be an asset
  • Connections in the Construction Industry would be an asset for SkillBuild; multiple industry connections would be an asset for the Rapid Employment Services role.

  •  Provide coaching on resume and cover letter development, interview skills, job search strategies, networking, and other related tasks
  •  Workshop facilitation utilizing engaging techniques, technology and applicable, updated materials
  •  Develop relevant and innovative materials applicable to job search, career investigation and education exploration
  •  Maintain and utilize resources for community referrals
  •  Establish and maintain a network with community partners, employers, and industry representatives to assist clients in attaching to the labour market
  •  Facilitate solutions and resource connections to mitigate barriers to employment
  •  Ensure contract expectations are being met, including, but not limited to, assessments, reporting, referrals, and file management
  •  Promote MCG Careers programs and services professionally; assist in the development of various marketing materials
  •  Work collaboratively with the team and provide support to other programs as needed
  •  Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  •  Post-secondary education and experience working in a client-based industry
  •  Minimum 3 years in career development
  •  CCDP Certification is an asset
  •  Experience and understanding of the challenges of this specific client group
  •  Understanding of the career planning process
  •  Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and using web-based software
  •  Knowledge of Social Media platforms
  •  Exposure to seminars or training programs/affiliation with professional associations related to career development
