Child Development Worker Program

The Child Development Worker Program is an MCG program that provides industry-specific training to Albertans that qualifies them to work in a variety of different careers in the Childcare Industry.

This program offers each program participant:

  • An in-depth assessment where the participant’s needs are identified
  • 16-weeks of classroom training
  • 10-week practicum for work experience (400 hours)
  • Child Development Worker Certification
  • 3-month follow-up after successful completion of the program

Construction Pre-Trades

Interested in a career in the construction industry? Construction Pre-Trades provides you with the technical skills to obtain employment in a wide number of roles within this busy industry. This program combines hands-on-technical training taught by the experts at NAIT with employability and essential skills training, work experience and job placement supports. Clients also receive certificate in First Aid and CPR, Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS), WHMIS and Fall Protection.

Growth 4 U

The Growth 4 U program is specifically designed for individuals coping with mental illness who require assistance to obtain and maintain employment. Based on the Individual Placement and Support model, staff work with clients to create a Return to Work Action Plan which outlines the steps needed to successfully enter or re-enter the workforce.

Information and Communication Technology

Enjoy working with computers? Our Information and Communication Technology program provides unemployed clients with the technical skills needed to obtain employment within the IT sector as well as the essential and employability skills needed to keep a job. MCG partners with Global Knowledge, a world leader in computer and technology training, to ensure clients receive not only the most current training available, but also training for new and emerging technology. Work experience and job placement supports with Edmonton area employers ensures students have the opportunity to put their new skills and knowledge to work.

ReBrand provides youth (ages 17 – 30) with an opportunity to develop essential life and career skills. Participants work through a series of facilitator-led modules that aid in career and education planning, stress management, job search skills, networking and much more. ReBrand participants also take part in Work Experience and Job Placements with regional employers. The end-goal upon program completion is for the participant to either obtain full-time employment or return to school to pursue further education.

Winning Edge – Workplace Training

Workplace Training partners with employers who can provide individual-centered programs, on-the-job training, and paid work experience. Participating employers agree to train or provide work experience for a predetermined period of time, with the expectation of the individual being able to engage and maintain employment in most cases with the same employer.
