- Meeting with clients, including those in job placement and follow-up, to review and amend action plans to ensure appropriate job search steps are taking place.
- Assisting all unemployed clients, including those in job placement and follow-up, with job search strategies until full-time employment is secured; provide employment leads to clients.
- Supporting clients in daily job search, as well as coaching for job interviews, developing career portfolios, writing resumes, setting video resumes and creating online client presence
- Following up with clients at the 30, 60, 90 days after the completion date of their active services to ensure they are successful (placed in employment and training)
- Maintaining continual contact with unemployed follow-up clients to ensure they are working towards goals.
- Liaising with employers to present the program and explain the benefits of taking on a program completer.
- Conducting cold calling, networking and generation of employer contacts for client placement
- Marketing to employers by using client skill sets as a tool.
- Keeping an up-to-date employer data base
- Supporting clients in developing employment contracts
- Supporting the recruitment of potential clients
- Working cooperatively with community groups and other agencies that provide career planning services.
- Assisting in servicing resource centre development and clients when needed.
- Reporting to the Project Manager client progress and reporting for all clients, as required.
- Contributing towards weekly/monthly reports, file maintenance, and contact notes.
- Bringing concerns about clients or employers to the Project Manager or team for assistance/support
- Attending and participating in weekly program meetings to discuss clients; working closely with fellow program staff/team members; participating in committee work.
- Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager
- Post-secondary education and experience working in a client-based industry
- Understanding the career planning process and the labour market in Calgary and surrounding areas across various industries (i.e., Tail, service, warehousing, labour, administrative, etc.)
- Recruitment, staffing/placement experience an asset.
- Exposure to seminars or training programs/affiliation with professional associations related to career development
- Reliable vehicle is required
- Certificate/Diploma/Degree in a related discipline; CCDP Designation or a Specialized Career Development Certificate
- Five-plus years experience in career development, work search strategies and labour market information
- Five years experience in a management role with the ability to demonstrate through actions professional conduct and standards for employee behaviour and top-quality customer service
- Strong team management skills including attracting, training, engaging, developing, and retaining qualified staff through performance management
- Proven ability to think critically with strong decision-making and conflict-resolution skills
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills with top notch organizational skills
- Excellent coaching, negotiating, and community and government relationship-building ability
- Project management/outcome management experience with forecasting and tracking knowledge
- Provide client-centric assessments to determine program eligibility, client needs, barriers to employment and foundational skills level
- Collaborate with the client to develop an individualized action plan to support the client in increasing their transferable (marketable) employment skills, foundational skills, and pre-employment skills
- Conduct holistic-case management and coordinate the delivery of services using a wrap-around model for case management
- Provide 1:1 coaching sessions to increase client engagement and build rapport and trust with individual clients
- Facilitate in-person and virtual 1:1 or small group skills development (foundational Skills for Success) and pre-employment skills sessions
- Provide employability, essential skills, and job search instruction 1:1 or in small group sessions
- Assist in the development of online resources
- Assist clients in accessing the WEST online learning platform
- Coordinate the delivery of participant learning allowances
- Develop, supervise, and support the administration of the assessment and testing functions of the program to identify client barriers, strengths, experience, and resources
- Incorporate the development of the foundational Skills for Success through all stages of the program
- Adapting to each client’s unique needs, provide coaching sessions 1:1
- Support the client’s ability to access online resources and engage in virtual sessions
- Maintain accurate up-to-date client files
- As part of service management in a client-based program model, work collaboratively with other EP staff to meet all requirements of the contract
- Obtain and submit all documentation required for clients to obtain the living allowance provided during the client’s program duration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and contribute to reporting activities
- Participate in the weekly case management meetings discussing service management for each client as required
- Support participant recruitment activities
- Outreach activities to establish and develop a network of community resources to which clients may be referred

- Post-secondary education in a related field or CCDP designation
- Minimum two years’ experience providing client-centric assessment to clients with disabilities or barriers to employment or three years of experience working in a client-based industry
- Minimum one year of experience facilitating workshops in person and online
- Minimum of two years experience working with clients with barriers such as addictions, poverty, single parent, mental or physical health, disabilities, food or housing insecurity, lack of work experience, etc., preferably in an employment coaching role
- Experience handling sensitive information and handling personnel matters with discretion
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced professional environment
- Experience in holistic wrap-around case management, including working with multiple agencies/professionals
- Experience in remote service delivery
- Monitor and assist clients with their job search or educational research
- Assist clients with resume/cover letter writing and development; assist with completion of employment applications; computer consultations (related to the job search) and interview skills
- Work with clients in a variety of employment-related workshops (1:1 &/or in a group)
- Compilation and development of job search materials and information packages
- Continuing support and development of individual client action plans; identify educational and employment requirements and help clients to develop strategies for reaching career goals
- Coach clients in areas of self-marketing and job search strategies and techniques
- Set an example by exhibiting a positive work ethic and displaying appropriate workplace behaviours
- Continually develop community resources and industry contacts
- Assist clients with problem-solving around barriers or concerns related to employment
- Generate and follow up on possible employment opportunities on the client’s behalf
- Ensure contract expectations are being met
- Complete daily and monthly progress reports
- Maintain regular communication with CEC workers or other agencies as required
- Make referrals to the JP and TIMW programs
- Make appropriate referrals (internal and external) in the best interest of clients and their needs
- Perform monthly file management as required
- Promote MCG programs and services professionally; assist in the development of various marketing materials
- Conduct Service Needs Determination and Career and Employment assessments
- Work collaboratively with the team and provide support to other programs as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Post-secondary education and experience working in a client-based industry
- CCDP Certification is an asset
- Experience and understanding of the challenges of this specific client group
- Understanding of the career planning process
- Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and using web-based software
- Knowledge of Social Media platforms
- Exposure to seminars or training programs/affiliation with professional associations related to career development
- 5 years experience in a childcare setting
- University Degree
- Demonstrated experience teaching via an online environment
- Early Childcare Education certifications
