Automotive Mechanic

Terms and conditions of employment: Permanent, Full-time (40 hours/week, increase to 44 hours/week during busy season from approximately mid-May to mid-June, Occasional overtime)
Salary: $43.00/hour, annual salary increase based on inflation and performance, and potential bonuses per company policy

Requirements

Language: English
Education: Secondary school or equivalent
Credentials: Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification, Red Seal (or ability to obtain)
Experience: 5 years of related experience
Area of specialization: German vehicles (Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, MINI, Porsche and Volkswagen), manual transmission vehicles
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Hand-eye coordination, Manual dexterity, Physically demanding, Handling heavy loads (up to 23 kg/50 lbs)
Work site: Workshop, noisy

Own tools:

Steel-toed safety boots
Basic mechanic’s tool set (imperial and metric wrenches and sockets, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, pry bars, punches, impact wrenches, torque wrenches, and other tools required to service generic automobile brands)
Manufacturer-specific tools supplied by company
Other: Must be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to commencing employment

Duties:

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or other vehicle problems including evaluation of on-board diagnostic system data
Perform major repairs, rebuilding, and component replacement on vehicle mechanical, electrical and electronic, engine, transmission, axle, steering, suspension, brake, heating, and air conditioning systems
Perform scheduled maintenance including oil change, chassis lubrication, tune-up, brake re-line, and alignment
Road tests vehicles to assist in diagnosis and to verify rectification of problems
Maintains own work area including periodic maintenance of tools and shop equipment
