Position Summary:

The Cook is responsible for food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and food safety. This role supports efficient kitchen operations and works collaboratively with front-of-house and back-of-house team members under the direction of management.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to recipes and standards
  • Maintain portion control and presentation consistency
  • Assist with prep work and station setup/cleanup

Kitchen Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment and tools
  • Assist with food and supply ordering as directed by management

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation requirements
  • Adhere to Alberta Health Services and internal safety standards

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with FOH staff regarding orders and timing
  • Support a respectful, efficient, team-oriented kitchen environment

Alcohol-Related Duties

  • May handle or prepare food containing alcohol as part of normal kitchen operations

Training & Certification

  • Food Handling Certification required (grace period may apply)
  • On-the-job training provided

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged standing
  • Exposure to heat, noise, and kitchen equipment
  • Lifting and carrying supplies and cookware
