Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and food safety. This role supports efficient kitchen operations and works collaboratively with front-of-house and back-of-house team members under the direction of management.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to recipes and standards
- Maintain portion control and presentation consistency
- Assist with prep work and station setup/cleanup
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas
- Safely operate kitchen equipment and tools
- Assist with food and supply ordering as directed by management
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation requirements
- Adhere to Alberta Health Services and internal safety standards
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with FOH staff regarding orders and timing
- Support a respectful, efficient, team-oriented kitchen environment
Alcohol-Related Duties
- May handle or prepare food containing alcohol as part of normal kitchen operations
Training & Certification
- Food Handling Certification required (grace period may apply)
- On-the-job training provided
Working Conditions
- Prolonged standing
- Exposure to heat, noise, and kitchen equipment
- Lifting and carrying supplies and cookware
