Job Title: Facilitator for the SkillBuild program

Primary Purpose of the Job:

The Facilitator is responsible to plan, guide and manage a group of individuals who face barriers to employment to achieve specific goals and outcomes by creating and delivering workshops in preparation for employment. Applying adult learning principles and making use of multiple teaching methods, the facilitator will engage groups in positive learning environments, using multiple resources to support learning and promote transition between the program modules.

Reports to: Program Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate workshops
  • Develop curriculum and resources to deliver Workplace Essential Skills workshops
  • Ensure materials follow contract requirements 
  • Assist clients in reaching required session outcomes 
  • Ensure sessions use multiple teaching methods to ensure auditory, visual, and kinetic learning occurs 
  • Monitor & record progress 
  • Incorporate adult learning theories 
  • Motivate & encourage clients to act 
  • Support client recruitment efforts, including hosting information sessions
  • Support job placement efforts
  • Attend team meetings 
  • Participate in month-end reporting 
  • Respect cultural diversity and inclusiveness
  • Support clients to remain employed for 90 days after placement
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Human Services; B.Ed. or related Humanities field preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience leading adult ed. workshops 
  • Curriculum development 
  • Experience in public speaking & presentations
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles; Techniques commonly used to facilitate learning; Career Development Fundamentals 
  • Experience in virtual and in-person instruction is an asset
