Targeted Initiative for Mature Workers Program (TIMW)

Do you have:

  • Post-secondary education and experience working in a client-based industry; Life Skills training an asset
  • Experience and understanding of the challenges of this specific client group
  • Basic understanding of the career planning process
  • Computer training
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite; familiar with various other software and computer programs
  • Knowledge of Social Media platforms for job search
  • Exposure to seminars or training programs/affiliation with professional associations related to career development

Position Pillars include:

  • Facilitate workshops on various topics in group settings and individual basis
  • Administer career assessments, assist clients with identifying educational requirements and develop training plans
  • Counseling clients to develop effective job search strategies and assist to overcome barriers to employment and assist client with developing an informed choice
  • Assist clients with implementing effective employment search strategies, writing resumes, developing interview skills
  • Provide job search assistance; facilitate weekly Career Café and maintain distribution list for job postings
  • Meeting with employers, discussing needs, providing information on available supports, workshop delivery
  • Creation of Service Plans, client engagement/relationship building
  • Knowledge of the local labour market information for the area and resources available to clients and refer clients to appropriate services to address their particular needs
  • Work co-operatively with community groups and agencies, businesses and other organizations involved in providing career planning resources
  • Write reports and research information on the Internet
  • Attend meetings and act as company representative where required
  • File maintenance, contact notes and updating service plans
  • Assist with conducting 90-day follow-ups with clients
