TRAIN SERVER

Reports To : The Train Server will report to the Train Excursion Lead

Job Overview:

Train Servers will engage with guests by first and foremost warmly greeting them.  Maintaining a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward guests at all times. Communicate using a positive and clear speaking voice, listening to understand the requests, and providing accurate information is essential.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Welcome guests and hand out menus.
  • Inform guests about special offers.
  • Take drink orders from guests accurately and with a positive attitude.
  • Place orders with bartenders/bar staff.
  • Serve prepared meals to guests in a timely manner.
  • Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Utilize POS to prepare bill and accurately charge guests.
  • Collect payments from tables.
  • Ensure that all cash handling procedures are met, balance and reconcile cash out sheets at the end of every shift.
  • Actively promote Aspen Crossing and solicit for additional events: family gatherings, weddings, reunions, retreats, business meetings/functions and private excursion i.e.: Christmas parties, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness of train daily
  • Follow all safety protocol.
  • Set up and decorate train with appropriate themes daily.
  • Be aware of guests that may require dietary restrictions.

Requirements:

  • Excellent co-ordination and do not suffer from motion sickness and able to work in small spaces.
  • Ability to work long shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain calm during busy shifts.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Stamina to stand and walk throughout whole shift.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Possess Pro-Serve certificate – MANDATORY.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Aspen Crossing operations including personal pay.
  • Possess general knowledge of all aspects of Aspen Crossing including all train excursions, campground, caboose cabins, Diefenbaker dinning car, Berquist House Tavern, greenhouse, Mothers Day, Fathers day train days, Musicfest, Train of Terror, Christmas market and Polar express.
  • Alberta Transportation training will be provided and MANDATORY to attend.
