Job requirements:

  • Language: Basic English
  • Experience: 2 years of related experience
  • Area of work: Sewers and water mains
  • Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Dusty, Noisy, Confined spaces, Underground
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Handling heavy loads (up to 23 kg/50 lbs), Bending, crouching, kneeling, Attention to detail, Fast-paced environment

  • Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Duties:

  • Install, connect, and seal pipes for storm, sanitary, and water distribution systems.
  • Excavate and prepare trenches to the required depth, alignment, and grade for pipe installation.
  • Measure, cut, and position pipes in trenches using appropriate tools and laser levels to ensure accuracy.
  • Connect pipes and seal joints using cement, glue, or other sealing materials to prevent leaks.
  • Backfill trenches and compact soil to provide adequate support and protection for installed pipelines.
  • Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine pipe placement and slope.
  • Operate or assist with the operation of equipment used in pipe installation and trench preparation.
  • Coordinate activities with equipment operators, supervisors, and other crew members to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Follow and promote workplace safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe job site.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure proper installation, alignment, and function of pipelines.
