Heavy Construction Equipment Operator

Job requirements:

  • Language: Basic English
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent training
  • Type of Heavy Equipment Operated: Asphalt Screed, Paver, Grader, Skidder, Asphalt roller
  • Area of work: Asphalt finishing, Fine grading and finishing, Rough grading;  Industrial/commercial/institutional (ICI), Residential construction, Road construction
  • Worksite environment: Outdoors, Dusty, Noisy, Job entails working close to buildings, utilities, moving equipment and public traffic, etc.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Handling heavy loads (up to 50 lbs/23 kg), Attention to detail, Fast-paced environment
  • Personal Suitability: Team Player, Accurate, Organized, Reliability, Flexibility
  • Own Tools: Steel-toed safety boots
  • Security and Safety: Pre-access drug and alcohol screening is required prior to working on specific job sites

Duties:

  • Operate heavy equipment
  • Operate computer-controlled equipment
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Secure special attachments to equipment
  • Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment
  • Monitor safety conditions
  • May be required to perform related duties as needed
