  • Job Location: Various locations in the Calgary region. The employer provides transportation to work sites.
  • Wage: $21-$24/hour (based on skills and experience, Salary increase as per company policy)
  • Employment terms and conditions: Seasonal Employment, Full-time, 40 to 72 hours per week (hours are weather-dependent), Overtime, Early morning, Morning, Day, Weekend

Job requirements:

  • Language: Basic English
  • Education: No education required
  • Experience: 1 year of related experience
  • Worksite environment: Outdoors, Noisy, All weather conditions
  • Work setting: Landscape contractor
  • Landscaping experience: Commercial and industrial landscape maintenance
  • Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Able to work long hours (8-12 hours/day, 5-6 days/week), Attention to detail, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Ability to distinguish between colours, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Organized, Reliability, Team player
  • Area of Specialization: Landscape maintenance
  • Equipment: Power lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, pruners

Duties:

  • Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens,
  • Apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides and other lawn care products,
  • Apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions,
  • Plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens,
  • Plant and move trees,
  • Weed, prune and trim trees and plants,
  • Plant bulbs, flowers, shrubs and trees
  • Remove litter and garbage
  • Cutgrass,
  • Cart and spread topsoil and other materials by hand or wheelbarrow
  • Rake and collect refuse,
  • Lay sod/seed/mulch
  • Install mulch and other decorative rock
  • Safely and Effectively use push mowers, trimmer, blowers and ride on mowers)
  • Assist with hand leveling/grading loam (shoveling/raking)
  • Understand and follow the Landform Safety Program
  • Be equipped and able to work in all weather conditions
