Job Title: Elite Tennis and Padel Tennis Coach

    • Permanent
    • Full-Time (35-42 hours per week)
    • Hours may vary, but include approximately 27.5 hours for junior programs coaching and 10-14 hours for private lessons
    • Hours may include mornings, days, evenings and weekends
  • Wage:
    • $40.00/hour, plus commissions (up to $5 – $35 per hour for private lessons)
    • Bonuses and salary increases per company policy

Job requirements:

  • Language: English
  • Certificates: Industry teaching certifications (level 2 Coach or Club Pro 2 certification with Tennis Canada or equivalent)
  • Experience: 5 years of relevant experience (a combination of playing and coaching experience will be considered)
  • Work setting: Local sports club, private lessons, junior athletes programs

Duties:

1. Expert Coaching & Player Development

  • Deliver elite-level coaching in both tennis and padel, including advanced technical, tactical, and strategic training tailored to each athlete’s needs.
    Work with high-performance athletes aged 10–22, including provincial and national-level competitors, aspiring professionals, and athletes pursuing U.S. college scholarships.
  • Provide video-based performance analysis to refine technique and enhance player development pathways.
  • Design customized training plans that integrate fitness, nutrition, recovery, and mental preparation.

2. Padel Tennis Program Development

  • Lead the growth and development of padel tennis at Aforza, supporting the rapidly increasing demand for lessons, programs, and events.
  • Train and mentor junior coaches to ensure a consistent, high-quality approach to padel instruction.
  • Introduce innovative padel programs, such as tournament preparation clinics, group development sessions, and recreational play formats to attract new players.
  • Support the competitive padel team by creating elite training structures to prepare players for regional and national tournaments.

3. Talent Identification & High-Performance Pathways

  • Identify and nurture emerging talent within both tennis and padel, providing athletes with structured development plans.
  • Collaborate with Tennis Canada, Tennis Alberta, and Padel Canada to align Aforza’s competitive programs with national development standards.
  • Offer college recruiting support by preparing athlete profiles, liaising with U.S. universities, and helping players secure scholarships.

4. Event & Tournament Support

  • Design and deliver high-performance clinics, camps, and workshops to foster skill development and community engagement.
  • Assist in organizing and coaching players through local, regional, and national-level tournaments, providing match preparation and courtside strategy.
  • Represent Aforza at competitive events, domestically and internationally thus strengthening the club’s reputation for excellence in both tennis and padel.

5. Staff Training & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior tennis and padel coaches to raise the overall coaching standards within the organization.
  • Conduct professional development sessions to upskill Aforza’s coaching team in modern training methodologies and player assessment techniques.
  • Help establish a consistent coaching philosophy and framework across all Aforza programs.

6. Innovation & Program Expansion

  • Develop hybrid programs combining tennis and padel techniques.
  • Support Aforza’s marketing team in promoting new padel offerings to existing members and the broader Calgary, Alberta community.
  • Introduce cutting-edge training technologies and methodologies to keep Aforza ahead of coaching trends provincially, nationally, and globally.
