· Related post-secondary education and experience working in a client-based industry; Career Development Certification as asset

· Understanding of the career planning process and the labour market in Calgary and surrounding areas across various industries (ie. retail, service, warehousing, labour, administrative, labour, etc.)

· Strong communication and verbal intervention skills

· Exceptional facilitation skills

· Recruitment, staffing/placement experience an asset

· Exposure to seminars or training programs/affiliation with professional associations related to career development


§ Facilitate career related skill development in a workshop environment

§ Deliver workshop curriculum using individualized client action plans and delivery methods that match the client learning style

§ Complete the designated curriculum within the time allocations and to the specific workshop outcomes

§ Support clients in obtaining and retaining full-time employment using a variety of resources

§ Consider the cultural diversity of learners so that individual and group needs and workshop outcomes are achieved

§ Encourage each learner to apply workshop outcomes in individualized action plans that lead directly to employment

§ Support clients in daily job search, as well as coaching for job interviews, developing career portfolios, writing resumes, developing video resumes and client online presence

§ Provide 1-1 coaching when needed to promote learning and action on workshop topics

§ Meet with clients to review and amend action plans to ensure appropriate job search steps are taking place up to 6 months after workshop completion

§ Assisting unemployed clients with job search strategies, until full-time employment is secured; provide employment leads to clients

§ Following up clients to ensure they are successful (placed in employment and/or in training)

§ Maintain continual contact with unemployed clients to ensure they are working towards goals

§ Build successful relationships with employers to help clients attain employment

§ Market to employers by using client skill sets as a tool

§ Keep an up to date employer data base

§ Support clients in developing employment contacts

§ Work cooperatively with community groups and other agencies that provide career planning service

§ Contribute towards weekly/monthly report, file maintenance, contact notes

§ Attend and participate in weekly program meetings to discuss clients; work closely with fellow team members; participate in committee work

§ Motivate and inspire clients to strive for success

§ Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager
